Balance...

As I journey through life providing hairstyling services, I often think of how creating hairstyles is related to key areas of living life to its fullest potential. During hairstyling training, we are taught elements and principles of hair design. Among these principles, areas that we often pay close attention are Balance, Proportion, Symmetry, and Harmony. Of these principles, Balance is of utmost importance.

Balance is key in our lives, either through what we eat, how we take care of our bodies, how much sleep we obtain, how much time we devote to our faith and family, and how many hours we work each day or week. Interestingly enough, if any of these areas are out of Balance, we (or those around us) feel the effects. For instance, if the wheel of a vehicle is not properly balanced, it makes for an uncomfortable ride that you can feel. Also, when we aren’t Balanced, we lose focus and we are not as creative. We get out what we put in.

And let it be noted that Balance is different for everyone; there is no “one size fits all” formula however, we must find our Balance and do our best to maintain it, just as each hair professional has their own style and methods to achieve the desired results.

Do yourself a favor and find your balance.
